AI for Pharma Content:

A top 5 global pharma company working with a Fortune 100 tech company hired us while testing the concept of publishing AI-generated, unbranded patient education articles on all health conditions and diseases. We edited 3000 AI-generated articles that had been fact-checked by MDs. The client gave us the goal to edit each article for 30 minutes maximum to:

  • Humanize
  • Delete any irrelevant sources or references
  • Fix any issues noted by the fact checker

The instructions also specified for us to discard any articles that were too low quality to be fixed in the allotted 30 minutes. Approximately 15% of the articles ended up being “trashed”. Due to the advanced stage of the project when we were brought in, we had no say over the prompts given to AI, the medical reviewers used or the goals and instructions to improve the quality of the articles. We had 2 writers, a PharmD and a PhD, working on the project full time for a month. The client was very happy with the work as it was completed on time and on budget, and met all of their specifications.

We learned a lot from that project and have since built a process for creating bulk AI-generated articles for pharmaceutical companies. Regulatory and legal departments are strict, but marketing departments are interested in leveraging AI content generation to pass their requirements.

Our established process for best outcomes includes us:

  • Efficiently gathering information from your company upfront
  • Building a strategy of what content we need and the outcomes we want from it
  • Constructing a prompt framework that delivers quality content consistently
  • Using AI tools with access to the full text of published medical and scientific studies
  • Using clinician and scientist writers to fact-check and edit the articles for accuracy
  • Giving the articles a human touch to include empathy, compassion and understanding
  • Ensuring a conversational tone with medical concepts simplified for a 6th-grade reader
  • Adding language that conveys familiarity with their specific disease or condition
  • Most importantly, editing to tell an interesting story that patients and caregivers will read
